All Internet Service Providers (ISPs) should now be able to take an order or upgrade for Fibre Broadband. Bear in mind this news is fresh off the press and it may take time for all the provider’s systems to be updated, so please do keep checking with them if they say it is not available. Let us know how you get on signing up and any problems you encounter.
Our MP, local Councillors (SBC and Parish), and a few residents in the area have been working very hard lobbying BT and Virgin to bring Superfast broadband to the area, and we now need people to sign up for it. There is an opportunity for even faster speeds using a technology called G.Fast IF enough people sign up for the current FTTC products. We could be one of the first in the country to get this, but it is very dependent on everyone taking advantage of the upgrades available now.
We have already succeeded with a trial of FTTP with speeds up to 300Mb, which is more than normal FTTP/FTTC speeds of up to 80Mb in two areas of North Swindon. I will post of list of Postcodes which should be able to take advantage of this shortly.
Other cabinets in the area are undergoing final upgrades and as soon as we hear they are active we will update you accordingly.
